Unit 2 Library

 

For the almost 2 full years I've been at Syracuse, I've used the library a ton. I find that the library, especially the upper floors, are excellent areas where I can get my work done in peace and quiet. I also feel that the general academic environment of the library helps me focus on my work. Being in my room doing work can be very distracting since I have things to keep me entertained. This was the first time I've ever checked something out from the library, and it really was the first time I've been exposed to the massive amounts of texts and resources that the library has. They had things that I could check out that I didn't even know were available, like classified US government documents. I chose the book that I chose because I've always been interested in what consciousness really is, and it was nice to read about different perspectives on it. As technology advances, I find that people use libraries less and less for what they were originally intended for - in the library, I constantly see people doing work on computers. Rarely do I ever see people check books out. In my experience I've only ever used Bird for completing work on the technology that I own.
