Reflection:

We take selfies to put ourselves out there, whether that be for a professional reason or for something like a casual post on Instagram or Snapchat. We often take selfies to document a moment in time, which shows our advancement in technology in that aspect - it takes a few seconds to show the world what we are doing at that point in time. BeReal, a recently trending app, has users post a selfie and a picture of what they are doing at a specific moment in time, which shows how far we've come in being able to quickly let people know what we're doing.

    I think the insight on how far we have come as a society in terms on sharing our lives is very accurate. The example of BeReal is quite effective to support your ideas which adds strength to your reflection

    Hi Alex,

    I think it's a very interesting perspective you bring up that we are quick to share our lives with others nowadays. This is something i've often thought about, specifically whether it has a positive or negative impact. Honestly, I think it can be both. On one hand, social media is excellent for finding people you can relate to and making new friends. On the other hand, sometimes it's hard to step away from the virtual world when there is so much content in front of you.

    Nice blog. I like the common thread through all of the items that seems to give insight as to how you live.

Reddit

 The two podcasts that we listened to focused on certain content spouting from Reddit. Reddit is infamous on the internet, and some claim it to be the closest legal website to the dark web. The sheer fact that you can find a subreddit on pretty much anything, no matter how disturbing, makes it interesting to study.  In the first podcast, the Whitesboro, NY seal was extensively mentioned. This seal was voted to be kept back in 2016, and since then there has been a lot of controversy behind it. This subreddit post  in particular showed the seal and explained that it was voted to be kept. The comments are all over the place, but one in particular that I found funny was one user comparing it to a second grader's drawing. Another comment said that the seal wasn't inherently offensive, just easily misinterpreted. Unit 2 Reflection

  As I stated in my portfolio post, I chose three friends of similar age to me to answer my potential research questions. This means that, overall, I’ve chosen my own generation to be the audience for my pitch. The reason I chose my generation is because of the pitch content itself – my generation uses technology the most out of any other generation, which means that we are affected most by technology’s advances. Most of us are in school as well, taking writing classes, so the development and usage of AI will definitely affect our ability to produce pieces for class. AI is also of hot interest in today’s day and age, so it’s easy to reach people of my gen eration who are interested in the subject.
